Port of Lewes, Delaware

Mulberry Street Press is named in honor of Mulberry Street in Lewes, Delaware, an historic port town located at the point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay.

Since colonial days, Lewes has been the home of pilot boat captains who steer ocean-going ships through the treacherous shoals of the vast bay to Philadelphia.  Like those pilots, the intent of Mulberry Street Press is to guide readers through the hidden currents of life to safe harbor. Our mission is to produce and distribute information to catalyze human potential.

Mulberry Street Press launched on July 4, 2010 with the publication of Dare to Ask! The Woman’s Guidebook to Successful Negotiating by attorney and leadership trainer Cait Clarke and writer Neil Shister, author of the best-seller Ten Minute Guide to Negotiating.

The ‘big idea’ in Dare to Ask! is that by re-framing the negotiating paradigm from the male-centric competitive model to “collaborative conversation,” women not only level the playing field but actually tilt it to their advantage.  The author shows women how to turn natural female strengths in social bonding, empathy, intuition, active listening and creative problem solving  into powerful negotiating assets.

Within six months of its publication, such companies as Nokia and McKesson and the global law firm O’Melveny & Myers were using Dare to Ask! as a training component in their women’s management enrichment diversity programs.

A special Real Estate Edition of Dare to Ask, introduced by industry luminary Danielle Kennedy, was published in 2011. Danielle, author of the million-copy seller How to List and Sell Real Estate and a celebrated trainer, considers the unique approach of  Dare to Ask! to be a game-changer for women.

“I have been asked to endorse books quite often, but I usually decline,” she writes in her Introduction.  ”I recognized as soon as I began reading Dare to Ask! that this is a special book! It is an inspirational about how women can become more empowered. That message will make the lives of women better at work and at home. By freeing us from our fear to ask for what we want, our authors have written a guidebook that will improve all aspects of a woman’s life.”

The next title to be published by Mulberry Street Press will be Dare to Mentor! A Woman’s Guidebook to Being a Sponsor, Coach and Protégé. The inspiration for this book is the recognition that to be fully empowered, women require specialized instruction in the ‘soft networking skills’ that accelerate personal success.  Featuring interviews with women leaders from corporate and professional circles, Dare to Mentor! will appear in 2012.

In the near future, Mulberry Street Press will expand the Dare To! brand to offer e-Apps on timely subjects of direct relevance to women.  Under development are Dare To! guides on travel, investment, and personal growth.
